Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can referring physicians speak with your
radiologists?
A: Yes, TET offers a toll free number as well as
direct access to the radiologists interpreting their
cases. We also offer the flexibility of text messaging
directly to their radiologist via blackberry or iPhone
as an added convenience. Whatever the preferred mode of
contact, we are always available.
Q: How do you set up Third Eye Teleradiology to be
a part of our practice? How long will it take? Do we
need any extra equipment and finally are there any
hidden costs?
A: We have a highly specialized team ready set up all
necessary image transfer connections and program the
system to reproduce the reporting format of your
practice. Set up normally takes 2-3 days with no hidden
costs. We provide all necessary equipment for
implementation. Our system works with all DICOM
compatible systems.
Q: Are TET radiologists trained and based in the
United States? Board-Certified or Board-Eligible?
A: Yes. Third Eye Teleradiology selects only
subspecialized radiologists who are American Board of
Radiology certified and reside within the United States.
All of our staff have completed a fellowship or advanced
training for image interpretation in their particular
area of expertise.
Q: Do you only provide overnight coverage?
A: No, our primary role is to provide service as part
of the daily operations of your department. We can cover
a particular service or provide global coverage as
needed. We are willing to participate in after hours ‘on
call’ duties as part of a rotation with your staff.
However, we are not a ‘night reader’ service.
Q: What makes you different from hiring a Locums
radiologist?
A: TET not only offers fellowship US trained
radiologists, but provides expert, subspecialty coverage
at significantly less expense to your practice. A TET
radiologist will not add the expense of travel, room and
board. There will be no ‘ramp up’ period, and the
quality of the people that work for us is unsurpassed.
Q: How does Third Eye Teleradiology protect
patient confidentiality? Will our images be secure once
they leave our hospital?
A: All images are transferred through TET’s Virtual
Private Network (VPN). Our technology, with state of the
art encryption, is fully JCAHO and HIPPA compliant. All
images are routed through a secure server. We can
provide long term archiving of your cases upon request.
Q: What kind of turn around times can I expect?
A: TET turn around times (TAT) are, on average 15-20
minutes for emergent cases and 60 minutes for
non-emergent cases. All cases receive a final report
within 24 hours.
Q: Will there be a ‘revolving door’ of
radiologists reading for us?
A: TET will provide you with three radiologists for
each subspecialty requiring coverage. One will be your
primary reader, and the others will serve as back up.
Therefore, both your staff and your referring physicians
will get to know who is reading for you, both through
name recognition on reports and through telephone
consultation. In fact, for long term contracts, we can
even arrange to have one of our radiologists spend some
time on site so that your staff and referring physicians
will have a chance to experience their expertise in
person before converting to remote reading. |
